属名Acrocephalus来自古希腊语akros，意思是“最高的”，以及kephale，意思是“头”。可能瑙曼和瑙曼认为akros的意思是“尖头”。种名agricola来自拉丁语，意思是“农夫”。

描述

稻田苇莺长13 cm（5.1英寸），翼展15—17.5 cm（5.9—6.9英寸），大小接近芦苇莺，但嘴和翼展较短。成鸟具有无斑的浅棕色背部和黄褐色腹部，并拥有暖棕色的臀部。眉纹较为清晰，嘴短而尖。雌雄鸟外观相同，像大多数苇莺一样，幼鸟腹部颜色较深。与大多数苇莺一样，它是食虫的。

它的歌声快速，类似于湿地苇莺，带有大量模仿声和典型的苇莺特有的哨声。其歌声比其亲缘物种更弱且节奏性更强。

分布

它繁殖于温带的中部古北界。属于候鸟，在孟加拉国、印度和巴基斯坦越冬。虽然它是西欧洲的罕见迷鸟，但在黑海西岸靠近保加利亚和罗马尼亚边界有少量繁殖族群。这种雀形目的鸟是一种栖息于低矮植被中的物种，喜欢长禾本科的草、芦苇和稻。它会在草中筑巢，产下4-5颗蛋。

亚种

稻田苇莺新疆亚种（学名：Acrocephalus agricola brevipennis）。在中国大陆，分布于新疆、青海等地。该物种的模式产地在突厥斯坦地区。

稻田苇莺东北亚种（学名：Acrocephalus agricola tangorum）。在中国大陆，分布于内蒙古、黑龙江、辽宁、河北等地。该物种的模式产地在河北。

The paddyfield warbler (Acrocephalus agricola) is a species of marsh warbler (family Acrocephalidae). It was formerly included in the "Old World warbler" assemblage. The Manchurian reed warbler (A. tangorum) was (and sometimes still is) included in A. agricola as a subspecies.

The genus name Acrocephalus is from Ancient Greek akros, "highest", and kephale, "head". It is possible that Naumann and Naumann thought akros meant "sharp-pointed". The specific agricola is from Latin and means "farmer".

It breeds in the temperate central Palearctic. It is migratory, wintering in Bangladesh, India and Pakistan. It is a rare vagrant to western Europe although there are small breeding populations along the western shores of the Black Sea around the border between Bulgaria and Romania. This passerine bird is a species found in low vegetation such as long grass, reeds and rice. 4–5 eggs are laid in a nest in grass.

At 13 cm (5.1 in) long with a wingspan of 15–17.5 cm (5.9–6.9 in), the paddyfield warbler is close in size to the Eurasian reed warbler but with shorter bill and wingspan. The adult has an unstreaked pale brown back and buff underparts, with a warm brown rump. There is a clearer whitish supercilium and the bill is short and pointed. The sexes are identical, as with most warblers, but young birds are richer buff below. Like most warblers, it is insectivorous.

The song is fast and similar to marsh warbler, with much mimicry and typically acrocephaline whistles added. Its song is weaker and more rhythmic than that of its relative.
